I love remix albums! ~<3 Don't you? Rift goes for all the Cyber Trance remixes, but I'm more of a Eurobeat fan.^^ Of course, the ayu-mi-x series aren't too bad either (well soooome at least), and here we have Ayumi's latest!

We've got a nice range of songs all the way from Memorial Address up to her latest Guilty album. They missed 1 Love and momentum though.=( I love those songs!

In any case, I hope these remixes rock.^^

Well, in her excitement over Gocchin I guess Amethyst didn't notice this and since I can't edit her post...

Jyongri's been nominated under the Best Newcomer category. From the results of the poll so far though, she's not getting much love...

But really, I think she deserves the award. Just check her PVs, Possession and the upcoming Kissing Me, and I dare you to tell me I'm wrong! She's just way awesome.

So c'mon people, vote for JYONGRI!

Hweeeeel, Gocchin's been nominated for the Most Photogenic Artiste in the Yahoo!Music Awards 2007! XDXD

ALL YOU FANS OUT THERE, MAKE SURE YOU VOTE FOR HER NOWWWWWW!

Vote for Gocchin!!!

Remember, voting ends on February 18. SO VOTE NOW!!!

To quote Rift, 'Gold Goddess Gocchin Goodness!' ~<3

Credits to Cassandra at Hello!Online for bringing it to my attention.^^

No, I'm not talking about her upcoming single.

Funnily enough, Hikki's new album due for release on 19/3/2008 will ALSO be called HEART STATION. Fancy that, huh? XP

Anyhoo, no other details revealed yet. Stay tuned! Amethyst crashing out.;P

Edit: Check the updated post!

I think this is the best PV they ever made. Enjoy! ~<3

Right on the heels of Morning Musume's single delay comes the unexpected announcement that Viyuuden will be disbanded.

Yeah I know...say WHAT!? O_O As if we hadn't enough bad news already.

I haven't really been keeping up with them other than a few songs now and then, but I'm sure gonna miss them.;_; I still remember my first time seeing them in action, when Rift got hold of the Hello! Project concert with Goto Maki as the captain kouen. Issai Gassai Anata ni Ageru ~<3

It's official. Tsunku's gone nuts.

Rika will still be in Ongaku Gataas, but as for Erika and Yui...who knows?

They'll have their last concert tour then disband in June.

I wonder if they'll release one last Best Hits album or something...

Crash!

Hihi and welcome to another random article by none other than moi!;D Sorry if Rift bored you with the last post, LOL.

Naw, just kidding.^^ I like it, especially the screencaps of Ayu ~<3

But today, I'm not gonna talk about Ayu. Instead I'm gonna talk about Yuko Ogura a.k.a. Yukorin!=D

Most of you might know her as a gravure idol, and for good reason too. She's cuuuute! Plus I just adore the lolita outfits she wears. Purrrty.X3

Anyways, I'm pretty sure you can find tons of her pics online if you just google her name if you're interested...no, wait! PUT DOWN THAT MOUSE, BUSTER!! I'm not done with my post, yet. <_<

I wanted to point out that Yuko Ogura also SINGS. Not very well though. But still, she's got a pretty cute voice. XD If I had to recommend one song from her, it'd be Vitamin Love.

Now it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find her first and only album Frui Chu Tarte online - if anyone knows, please I'm begging you for all that is berry and holy, TELL ME!!XD So Rift gave me the go-ahead to upload a zip file of all four of Yuko Ogura's songs that we have - the first 3 from her album and the last one being the theme song for the anime School Rumble.

Yuko Ogura mp3.zip
Includes:
1. Vitamin Love
2. Eien Loverin
3. Lovin' You
4. Onna no Ko, Otoko no Ko

Enjoy!^^ Amethyst crashing out!

Greetings. I'm gonna spare the long introduction and just say that I'm Amethyst's creator and I've been invited by Amethyst herself (ironic, isn't it?) to do a review of the PVs from Ayumi's latest album GUILTY. I kinda find it silly that she wanted me to do this for her considering she could have done it herself, but in any case I'm not complaining. This is Ayumi we're talking about. And like Amethyst, I'm a big fan of hers.

This will be the first part of a series of reviews on the PVs included in the GUILTY album DVD. Note: I'm excluding glitter / fated because I don't really have much to say about either of the PVs. So let's start off with our first PV, Talkin' 2 Myself.

Talkin' 2 Myself

This song is heavier and darker than some of Ayu's recent ones. And so is this video.

The first thing you hear? Crackling flames as they lick the debris of a crumbling, destitute city.

The trees are dead. Whole branches fall off alight in flames.

The city lies in ruins. Fire and smoke is everywhere in this PV. Yet there are still people who inhabit this place, the expressions on their faces as grim and sombre as their surroundings. The effects of a natural disaster? Doubtful. The devastation of war? Most probably.

What is this place? I'm not sure what language that is, but it looks like a South Asian script, ie. India.

Notice the searchlights? Okay, you probably can't see them very clearly in this shot, but try watching the PV. They're everywhere. Other than doubling as stage lights for Ayumi and her dancers here, they also lend credence to my theory that this city is in the midst of war.

Searchlights were used extensively in defense against nighttime aerial bomber raids around the time of World War II. In particular, pairs of searchlights spaced a known distance apart were used to determine (via triangulation) the altitude of enemy bombers, so that the fuses on anti-aircraft flak shells could be set appropriately for maximum effect. In addition, the lights may have helped blind bombardiers using optical bombsights.

Source: Wikipedia

Aerial bomber raids could have caused all this destruction.

And of course, there's Ayumi.

Observing a group of children playing football(soccer for you Americans). Their joyful and carefree nature is in stark contrast to the gloomy atmosphere.

A boy falls down. A friend helps him up. It's nice to have friends there for you, isn't it?

I like this shot right here. Rain pounding on a weathered old jeep.

And Ayumi keeps on singing and dancing come rain or shine.

One final glance back at us.

A nice, dark PV from Ayumi. My only complaint is probably her choice of outfit - looks a little too butch. But the setting and tone of the PV fits the song perfectly. Great job, Ayu!

Watch the PV!

I saw people talking about the delay for a while now, but I wasn't sure whether it was true, so I like didn't bother posting about it. But Rift did some checking up, and now I'm pretty sure it's true. Morning Musume's 36th single has been delayed...;_;

YesAsia.com
cdjapan
JBOOK
Shinseido Shopping Site

ALL OF THEM states the new release date as being 16/4/2008. (Amazon.co.jp still says it's 5/3/2008 though.:/)

That's like...more than A MONTH later! I'm starting to wonder whether they're having some problems, or maybe they're trying to avoid competing with other releases on that day...

Let's see what else is there:
1. SMAP - Sonomama (single)
2. Japan Game Soundtrack, Hirano Aya - Hamatte Sabotte Oh My Ga! / Nantettatte Densetsu
3. Orange Range - Title to be determined (single)
4. ayaka - Te wo Tsunago (single)
5. ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION - World World World (album)
6. AAA - Attack All Around (greatest hits album)
7. Every Little Thing - Title to be determined (album)

These are the ones I noticed, you can find more here.

Ugh, quite a few competitive releases on that day. SMAP, Orange Range, Asian Kung-fu Generation, AAA... Then we've got the ever popular Aya Hirano..<< I'm still addicted to Hare Hare Yukai and Motteke! Sailorfuku.

Another reason, like I mentioned in my earlier post, could be cuz BOTH C-ute and Berryz Koubou are releasing stuff around the same time. And given their immense popularity spike nowadays, I guess Tsunku might not want them to affect Momusu's sales or anything.

But still, an entire month's delay? How better could it be in the middle of April? XD I dunno, cuz I can't find any info on releases that far ahead.

Well anyways, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It had better be damn worth the wait...<<

Review
16sai no Koi Nante
This is a very light and upbeat song! And catchy too.^^ An uplifting song that's not too hyper-genki like most of H!P's stuff. My preferred fave of the two songs on this single.

Watashi no Koibito na no ni
Another song that makes for easy listening. Compared to the first, the tone is more relaxed here. Suitable for listening to while driving back from work.

Overall
This collaboration by Abe Natsumi(former Morning Musume member and current soloist) and Yajima Maimi(from C-ute) marks the first H!P single of 2008! And I think it's a pretty good start for the new year.^^

The duo complement each other nicely. It's a very nice pairing!~<3 Both songs on the single represent two different moods, yet retain the light and easy feel. It's a good combination!=D

So yeah, I'm wondering whether there'll be anymore collaborations between these two girls.^^ Cuz I sure hope so!

[News] Digital Wonderland

Posted In: , . By Amethyst

In The Korea Times, there are some articles on suggestions to President-elect Lee Myung-bak. Part of it mentions the Wonder Girls. XD

"The world is changing apace, and yesterday’s technologies and products are “old” in consumers’ eyes. With such breathtaking changes to the digital culture, a moment of neglect can crumble efforts in the IT industry. I strongly advocate the importance of using information and communication technologies and the existing infrastructure to leap into the developed world.

The Korean pop song “Tell Me” by the Wonder Girls is sung everywhere in Korea today. I hope that the new government and the President-elect will promote Korea the Digital Wonderland around the world, so that they can tell the next generation of their great achievements."

Digital Wonderland...sounds like fun!^^

CRASH!!

Hiya, and welcome to my first article! ;D

Sometimes, it's hard to find what you want online, especially Jpop stuff.:( So I'm here to help you change that!

While Rift insisted that I don't put up any download links on this blog for the time being, he didn't say anything about helping people out with getting their Jpop fix! XD

So here, it is:

5 tips on finding Jpop Mp3 and videos download!

1. Forums. They're a wonderful place to make friends, talk about Jpop and also, share your stuff! =D It's fine to lurk and leech off the uploads, but you'd be missing out on all the fun! Plus it's easier to request files when you're a known face rather than some stranger that just popped in. XP

Some forum policies don't allow uploads though. That's where the networking comes in! If you manage to make some friends there, who's to say you can't do all your file exchanges outside the forum? ;P Think about it. A lot of the music I get are through friends. Plus they can even give you recommendations. Never underestimate the power of networking, lol.;D

I've got a few forums listed to the right under Fansites. Check them out!

2. Torrents. Get uTorrent and head on over to torrent sites such as jpopsuki that cater especially to Jpop fans like you and me.

3. Blogs. There are a couple of blogs there that offer Jpop mp3 download links. Try searching Technorati, or use Google's Blog Search. Again though, depending on how wide your network of friends is, you might even have some that have their own blogs doing this. XD

4. Streaming video sites. We all go to watch videos on YouTube, Veoh or even crunchyroll. Sometimes though, the uploader of the videos will list their own site, blog or forum with Jpop mp3 or videos for download. Or in Veoh's case, you could easily download the video you're watching using VeohTV.

But say you have the video but you want the mp3 so badly even though you can't find it anywhere. Rip the audio!=D Open it up in Audacity and export it as an mp3 file (make sure you have the LAME mp3 encoder!).

5. eSnips. I saved the best for last!=D eSnips is actually a storage site where you can create an account and upload your stuff to share. But you don't actually have to be a member to download stuff. Just search for your Jpop mp3, click on the link and listen to the song as it streams. Then if you like it, just do this to the url:

"http://www.esnips.com/doc/..." change to -> "http://www.esnips.com/nsdoc/..."

It's that simple!^^

That's it then. Hope it helps!=3

Hi all! Here's a few untitled releases you can expect to see coming out soon!

-It's been a while since Aikawa Nanase last released an album. But that's soon gonna change! Release date's still unconfirmed, but we can expect to see her album out sometime this summer.

-OLIVIA too has been pretty busy, what with all her concerts going on. Her new album is apparently due out 20/2/2008. It's gonna be 'purty delicious', as Livi-chan would put it, hehe.;D

-Popular female idol group Morning Musume will also be releasing their 36th single on 5/3/2008. With both Berryz Koubou and C-ute also releasing singles around the same time period, many fans are expecting a heated battle between the Hello!Project units. I'll be rooting for Momusu, of course!^^

-Utada Hikaru will also be releasing a new album on 19/3/2008. Still no further details.:(

That's for all now. Stay tuned for more berrylicious updates!

Amethyst crashing out! ;D

One of Ayumi's latest PVs that portray her as a marionette along with some men in suits.

Check out my review!

Finally, a review! And for one of my best-loved singers of all time!<3

I've been a fan of Ayu since her album (miss)understood - though that was the one album I didn't really like from her! I've been following her ever since. There were some hits , her album Secret which I really LOVED and Talkin' to Myself.<3 And then there were some misses...Blue Bird, glitter / fated...bleh!>_<

Her album Secret had a good mix of ballads and upbeat tracks. But what I REALLY wanted was for her to release something more rockish. Edgier. Darker maybe.

When Talkin' to Myself came out, I was thrilled! It seemed like she was going in that direction. And now we have GUILTY. Here we go! =D

Mirror
The album kicks off with an intro that does well in setting the scene. It's like you're dialing in to the connection, complete with digital distortion sounds, then you're in! And then the song starts taking you along, lifting you, building up the scene and power, showing you what to expect for the rest of the album. Then it's done, it's finished, it's happy with its handiwork and takes you back down. It's not over yet though. This is just the intro. Take a breather and get ready. The show's about to start!

(don't)Leave Me Alone
The first song establishes the same feel to it as Talkin' to Myself did - dark and expressive. It doesn't want you. It's telling you to get away while you still can. But at the same time, it wants you to stick around. For there's more to come.

Talkin' to Myself
And here we have Talkin' to Myself! I love this song.<3 Did I repeat myself? It's a nice progression from the previous song as comparatively, this sorta builds upon it and takes it to another level. The song sounds like it's berating itself for telling you to leave it alone.

Decision
This song then starts. At first, you might think it's gone soft and sorrowful. But then it proves you wrong with a rebellious rockish beat that begins shortly after. Then the song intersperses both, starting out dejected and hurt only to rise with firm resolve again and again. Ayumi's not backing down just yet, people!

Guilty
We have a nice beat going here. It starts sounding even darker and morose here - fitting the title of the song very well. You can hear the regret in her voice. Over what? A lost lover? People wronged? Past mistakes? The pathetic state of the current world?

I dunno. I don't understand Japanese and I've yet to read the translation for this one.^^;

Fated
Heard ittttt. Don't get me wrong. It's a decent song. Just not that great. This song sounds hopeful. For things to be better one day. Or maybe it's just resigned to fate and content with life however it goes. Because she knows it'll turn out well somehow in the end. Hopefully.

Together When...
Now this is a lovely first-class ballad. Sounds like it's reminiscing over sweet memories shared with a special someone. And wondering when they'll ever be together again.

Marionette -Prelude-
Prelude! It's like Ayu wants to end the first phase of the album but then as an afterthought, she puts on this musical box. It's really a sweet little melody.^^

Marionette
And then she gets inspired for this song. You really have to watch the PV to get a real feel for it! Very curious stuff going on here. Ayu's always had a penchant for songs that portray her as just a puppet, robot or image of some sort. There's quite a few actually...Evolution, Real Me, Alterna.. So this song continues the same theme. A very dramatic song at that!

The Judgement Day
Interlude! And finally we've come to the end of the first part of the album. Really, the tune here isn't as scary as the title makes it out to be. It does start off with some ominous clock chimes and organs, accompanied by Ayu doing her trademark 'lalala' thing in a morbid tone. But then it quickly grows brighter and more upbeat, till it nearly reminds you of Fairyland. And now you know what's coming.

Glitter
I hates this song.>_< I mean, on its own, it's a nice happy song - very different from the songs in the first part of the album. Only oh I dunno...IT'S BEEN DONE BEFORE! First Fairyland. Then BLUE BIRD. We really don't need another one, Ayu! XD I'm fine with you being bright and happy, but at least make it more original than all your previous songs.<_<

My All
Now this is slightly better in some ways. Still, the beat is pretty ho-hum and not very inspiring. It only picks up during the chorus, but even then it doesn't sound like Ayu's really giving her all here. Even Glitter sounds more persuasive. But I hate that song...<_<

reBIRTH
Another interlude? Weird...=/ I mean it IS a nice tune and all and does fit the title reBIRTH perfectly, sounding like you're observing the magical wonder of life itself. But still, I don't see what it's doing here...unless it's meant to bridge to the next and final song of the album.

Untitled ~For Her~
The title itself is curious. I'm guessing 'her' could be her mom. On the other hand, it could be referring to her own self. I read somewhere that Ayumi actually views herself as two aspects, one which is her personal self and the other which is her muse. Or something like that. That's why you see a lot of PVs where you see 2 different Ayumis.

In any case, this song sounds a lot like a tribute to whoever 'she' is. A nice way to wrap it up.^^

Overall
I love this album. X3 Even more than Secret. It's exactly what I wished for ~<3 (at least the first part) From what I can tell from the titles and feel of the songs, it sounds as though Ayumi is regretting over something, but will continue to strive ever harder towards the future, ever hopeful for the best.

Which bears resemblance to her message to her fans when she got deaf in her left ear:

Translation by HiruNoKaze:

My frank resolution for this year.

The truth is, last year, I had an ear check-up, my diagnosis being that my left ear has completely lost all function and that there is no treatment.

Even so, I want to keep being a singer.

That's why I'll keep singing as long as this remaining right ear works, to its limit.

I won't quit.

I won't make excuses.

As a professional, I will sing the best songs for you*.

I don't really like the word "ganbaru," but...

I will ganbaru**!!!!! At all costs!!!!!!!!!

Until that day, someday...

*Here she uses the word for "everyone," but I think it is better translated as "you." Also, the literal meaning is "I will definitely deliver the best songs to you." for reference.

**ganbaru means persevere or try hard, and it is a word very commonly used in Japanese. For example, as well as being used to mean "try hard," it is used in the same situations that "good luck" would be used in English.

Source: Ayumi Hamasaki Sekai

I'm probably wrong though and it could just be a coincidence.^^;

In any case GUILTY, a great album. I heard that it should be out here about now, so I'm definitely getting Rift to pick me up a copy! X3 You should get yourself one too!

Here's to more wonderful songs from Ayumi Hamasaki! =D

Lol, she's actually using a proper piano this time. And a cute pink one too! XD

I like how the piano melody goes with the poppish beats. They blend well together! My only complaint would be that it's not really as catchy as Possession, lol.

All in all, a nice upbeat song from JYONGRI! =D

Hmm...not bad! I can hear some tunes I might grow to love. <3 We'll have to wait and see when it's finally out.

The song Renai ♥ Rider on their upcoming single is also the second ending theme song for Shugo Chara!

Let me be the first to say that I'm not really a huge fan of Koda Kumi. Personally I think she dresses too much like a slut - no offense to Kuu-chan fans! =P There are a few songs I like from her though, namely D.D.D. feat. Soulhead, Selfish and JUICY.

Now she's coming up with a new single(anytime) and then an album(Kingdom) a week later. I like the covers for Kingdom especially. Classy!<3

I might be reading into this too much buttttt the timing is really uncanny. I mean, after the news that Ayu's gone deaf in her left ear (ganbatte, Ayu!), now we have Koda Kumi releasing an album depicting herself as a Queen - quite unlike her previous album covers.

Almost as if Kuu-chan is set to steal the throne from Ayu. =X I hope not though! XD

You can watch the preview video for Kingdom here.
